History

Lacrosse was a Native American game first encountered by Europeans when a group of french missionaries witnessed a game during the 1630s. Box Lacrosse is a modern form of the game, invented in Canada during the 1930s. It was invented to promote buisness for ice hockey arenas during the summer months.
Canada adopted the new sport quickly and eagerly. However Field Lacrosse enthusiasts discurraged the new sport. Lacrosse was officially named Canadas national summer sport in 1994. Box Lacrosse has been adopted by the original sport played by the Iroquois.
Lacrosse was seen as a method of cultural identity and healing.
It is the only sport in which Americans are sanctioned (to give effective or authoritative approval or consent) to compete internationally.
The first national box lacrosse game was held in 1931. Many People and places tried to start a box lacrosse league but failed. Until, in 1986 when the formation of the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League. Became the Major Indoor Lacrosse League but after 2 more years became the National Lacrosse league. Although only 3 of the 13 teams were in Canada more than 2/3 of the players were Canadians!
